Before treatment

A certified sleep study and confirmed OSA diagnosis come first.

Oral appliance therapy is a medical treatment — not an over-the-counter device. Before we discuss any appliance, every patient must complete a certified sleep study and receive a confirmed diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) from a board-certified sleep physician. Once we have that diagnosis in hand, we'll sit down with you and tailor a treatment plan that fits your anatomy, lifestyle, and severity of OSA.

  1. 01

    Certified sleep study

We coordinate a convenient home sleep test (or use your existing study) read by a board-certified sleep physician.

  2. 02

    Confirmed OSA diagnosis

Treatment can only begin after the physician confirms a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea.

  3. 03

    Personalized treatment plan

With your diagnosis confirmed, we review every option and build a plan that suits you.

Why patients choose an oral appliance

CPAP works — but it isn't for everyone.

CPAP is highly effective when patients can tolerate it, but studies show roughly half of users abandon their machine within the first year. For patients with mild-to-moderate OSA, a custom oral appliance is an AASM-recommended alternative that's quieter, smaller, and easier to live with.

Common CPAP frustrations

  • Bulky machine, hose and mask at the bedside
  • Pressurized air causes dry mouth, nasal congestion, or bloating
  • Mask leaks, red marks, and skin irritation
  • Noise from the motor can disturb you or your partner
  • Difficult to travel with — requires power and TSA handling
  • Claustrophobia and a feeling of being 'tethered' all night
  • Daily cleaning of tubing, mask, and humidifier
  • Up to ~50% of patients stop using CPAP within a year

Why an OSA oral appliance

  • Small, custom-fit device — fits in the palm of your hand
  • No mask, no hose, no motor noise
  • Silent — your partner sleeps better too
  • Easy to travel with: no power, no TSA hassle
  • More comfortable for side and stomach sleepers
  • Quick to clean — rinse and brush in under a minute
  • FDA-cleared and recommended by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for mild-to-moderate OSA, or for severe OSA when CPAP isn't tolerated
  • Higher long-term adherence — patients actually wear it every night
